A man inspecting a handgun, accidentally fired a round in Dryden on Saturday, sending a bullet through his hand, into the buttocks of another and eventually lodging into the leg of a third person.

Chelan County Sheriff’s Chief Ryan Moody said Monday that deputies concluded that the man believed the gun was unloaded when he pulled the trigger.

Chief Moody added that the prompt application of a tourniquet by Chelan County Sheriff’s deputy Drew Davis likely saved the life of the individual who suffered the leg injury.

All three, whose names were not made public, were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Chief Moody reminded to treat all guns as if they are loaded and to avoid pointing

them at anything they do not intend to shoot.
