Chelan County citizens asked for their opinions in advance of STR regulation updates

The Chelan County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) will hold a public hearing on proposed updates to Chelan County’s short-term rental code.

The hearing will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Confluence Technology Center, 285 Technology Way in Wenatchee.

Earlier this year, the BOCC asked the Planning Commission to review portions of the short-term rental code that have raised questions from both county staff and citizens, or sections that needed language updates. The code, passed in July 2021, established the operating standards of the county’s short-term rental industry.

The Planning Commission held a public hearing on the updates on Nov. 13. About 75 people attended online and another 40 people attended in person. The planning commission’s recommendations on the proposed changes have been submitted to the county commissioners who will may make changes to the current regulations.

The Jan. 14 meeting will be available on Zoom. Go to the Commissioners webpage for Zoom login information. Written comments can be submitted prior to the meeting to Community Development at CD.Comment@co.chelan.wa.us.
