How will a specialized Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) road crew remove large boulders precariously hanging over South Lakeshore Road, west of Chelan? That remained the question Friday morning.
A major rockslide carried up to 1,400 yards of rock and dirt from a hillside and onto the road early Monday.
WSDOT communications manager Lauren Loebsack said a geotechnical team was onsite beginning Wednesday, working on how best to stabilize the hillside, including finding the right equipment for the job.
South Lakeshore Road remains closed between Lake Chelan State Park and the intersection of Scenic Ranch Lane, a two-and-a-half-mile stretch of the road. Navarre Coulee Road provides a detour.
