Progress reported, evacuation advisory decreased along south shore of Lake Chelan

Little Giant Fire managers reported progress Sunday night with strategic burning operations to starve the main fire areas from forest fuel in an area along Chiwawa River Road and Twin Creek Tie Road.
Near Lake Chelan, direct containment efforts continue along Devil’s Backbone, Junior Point, and Grouse Mountain. Firefighters are using bulldozers to reinforce control lines in the Grouse Mountain area to connect with existing road systems. A hotshot crew is constructing fireline southward from Junior Point along Devil’s Backbone.
Infrared thermal imaging surveyed a lingering spot fire on the northeast shore of Lake Chelan. North of the fire, boats and helicopters delivered supplies to support ongoing structure protection preparations in Domke Lake and Lucerne.
An evacuation advisory on the south shore of Lake Chelan from 25 Mile Creek State Park to the end of South Lakeshore Road has been reduced to a Level 2 (Be Prepared to Leave).
In the Entiat River drainage, firefighters continue to hold Tyee Ridge Road to Tyee Lookout, spraying water on the fire’s edge and reinforcing the fireline. From Entiat River Road to Gene Creek, helicopter water drops were deployed Sunday.
Structure protection efforts continued through the weekend.
A new, larger fire camp is set up in Chelan and many firefighters have been relocated there to help ease traffic congestion and safety concerns on Highway 97A in Entiat.


There is a closure order for the Wenatchee River and Entiat Ranger Districts and Chelan Ranger District, as well as a forest-wide campfire ban. There is a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) over the fire area. Unauthorized drones are prohibited.
