First of the season 100+ acre wildland fire burns near Oroville

A wind driven wildland fire in north Okanogan County has grown to over 100 acres southeast of Oroville, west of highway 97. The fire was first reported at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday.


One air tanker and two helicopters fought the fire from above late Wednesday and will reportedly continue the air attack Thursday.


A Level 1 advisory has been issued for a few residents in the area of East Wannacut Lane at Wannacut Lake.


No structures are threatened and no injuries have been reported.
