Two fatal crashes in three days on US2
A second fatal crash in three days on Chelan County highways occurred just after 4:00 p.m., Tuesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 2, west of Cashmere.
The Washington State Patrol says a Jeep driven Patrick Marshall, 74, of Wenatchee struck the rear of a pick-up which had stopped to make a turn onto a private driveway.
Alejo Garcia, 27, a passenger in the truck, was found dead at the accident scene. Pickup driver, Pablo Moralez, 53, and four other passengers, along with the driver of the Jeep, were taken to Central Washington Hospital for treatment of injuries.
Marshall’s Jeep rolled in the crash and struck an oncoming vehicle, who’s driver, Robert Driscoll, 52, of Leavenworth, was not hurt.

Lily Garcia, 77, of Omak, has been identified as one of five people killed in a crash on highway 2 near Orondo Sunday night. The four men killed in the crash have not been identified by the state patrol, awaiting notice given to family members.
That stretch of highway has always made me nervous with all the driveways and slow traffic mixing together at speed. I read about the colony flow issue on this page and it really makes you think about how dangerous turning onto these roads can be. Three days and two crashes feels like a sign something needs to change out there.
