Laura McAloon has been chosen as the new Chelan city administrator. She comes to Chelan having served as city administrator for the City of Grand Island, Nebraska.
"What was really strong and stood out was her 20-plus years of municipal experience, both in law, but then also just in working with municipalities," Chelan Mayor Erin McCardle said following a Thursday city council decision on the appointment of McAloon to succeed Wade Farris.
McAloon holds a Juris Doctorate and a Bachelors in Business Administration.
She has served as the city attorney for Pullman, was counsel to Spokane Transit Authority and provided city attorney services for the cities of Medical Lake and Newport.
In addition to selecting McAloon, McCardle says Human Resources Director Chad Coltman will become Deputy City Administrator.
"I really think that this structure allows us to let Chad's expertise still have an impact on our community," said McCardle. "Bringing in Laura with her experience will compliment Chad's experience."
The mayor will iron out a contract with the new administrator. In the meantime, Coltman will be the interim city manager. Farris spends his last day employed by the city on Friday.
