Manson Swim Hole renovation project gets additional Chelan PUD support

Chelan PUD Commissioners voted Monday to increase their support for the Old Swim Hole-off leash dog park renovation project in Manson by ‘up to $100,000.’
“The whole project connects into the PUD’s Manson Bay Park,” said Chelan PUD Chief Strategy and Stakeholder Officer Justin Erickson. “Lots of inter-connectedness with the PUD and Manson Parks, so we’re very sympathetic to the fact that this is an important project to the community. This (the PUD’s latest investment) really highlights our partnership between the PUD, Manson Parks and Chelan County. I understand that the regional port is also considering financial contributions as well."
Erickson says the PUD has had long standing interest in the swim hole and dog park since leasing the property from the Lake Chelan Reclamation District, land that was later transferred to Manson Parks, at which time the PUD invested $500,000 toward today’s vision of rebuilding the shoreline area.
“I think it’s really an attractive benefit to the community,” added Erickson. “You’ve got the off-lease (dog park) component, the non-motorized dock to access the land and launch paddleboards. The boardwalk which connects to the downtown area as well as Manson Bay Park. It’s just a fantastic project, and I hope this sets up the community up for the long term with this improvement.”
Chelan County, last week, committed up to $250,000 toward the project. Renovation construction costs have escalated in recent months requiring a plea for additional financial support.
