The Manson Community Council heard noise complaints, loud and clear, from citizens Tuesday night.
"Many cities have gone away from decibel metering to amplified sound ordinances," Community Council chair, Chris Willoughby said following the council's open discussion on solving the issue. "You can not amplify electronically or mechanically any sound after a certain time or during certain time frames. That right there is something easily monitored, easily rectified and enforceable."
The Manson One Voice Initiative is moving forward.
"We can collaborate on different projects and ideas," Willoughby shared. "Each group that's involved, has different things they focus on. The Chamber is tourism and marketing of the town, the Downtown Association, Main Street Program will focus on the main street beautification and upgrades, while the Community Council has more of a political role."
Willoughby added that the Manson Chamber’s move to the former Wells Fargo Bank building on Wapato Way will open a sort-of 'town hall, one-stop shop' for residents. The Chamber's new home will also house the Manson Downtown Association and give the community council a permanent location to do business and meet with constituents.
The new Chamber offices are expected to be open by late March.
Willoughby,, on Tuesday, attended his last council meeting as chair of the town council. He has been appointed to the Chelan County Planning Commission.
One of the biggest things was working through the growth management, comp plan for Manson," Willoughby said in looking back on accomplishments the town has made during his time on the Community Council. "The county and state have looked at communities like ours as kinda cookie-cutter , but Manson is unique. There's a lot of positives at this point in time with our council and the community and I'm confident that it's going to continue on and grow."
Mike Kirk assumes the role as Manson Community Council chair.
The Manson Council meets again March 18.
