Homicide investigation begins after man found in vehicle

Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive man in a vehicle along U.S. Highway 97 in Orondo on Wednesday.


Washington State Patrol troopers, Douglas County Fire District #4 and Lake Chelan Health EMS personnel assisted at the scene, prompting a several-hours-long closure of a portion of the highway south of the Beebe Bridge.


Undersheriff Tyler Caille says the man appeared to have suffered from a gunshot wounds. The undersheriff added in a news release that life saving measures were attempted, however, the man was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.


Caille says the incident is being investigated as a homicide and anyone with information is asked to call 911.
