Gunshots were fired by unknown suspects at two homes in Bridgeport Bar early Sunday morning.
Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene to find over 60 handgun shell casings, of various calibers, outside and into the siding of the home. No one was injured.
Within ten minutes of the reported shootings, deputies were called to a truck on fire outside of the Bridgeport Quick-Mart on Foster Creek Avenue. First responders found the truck engulfed in flames and deputies later determined the truck had been reported stolen from the Bridgeport area and that the vehicle matched the description of the suspect vehicle involved in the earlier incident.
Two-and-a-half hours later over ten gunshots were fired at a residence, striking the home several times. One round entered a child’s bedroom. No one was hurt there as well.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says all three incidents are believed to be gang-related and are being investigated concurrently by Sheriff's detectives.
“Due to the violent nature of these crimes, we urge the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity by calling 911 immediately,” said Douglas County Sheriff Tyler Caille. “Detectives are also requesting the public’s assistance. Anyone with information or video surveillance footage that may help identify the suspect(s) involved is encouraged to contact the DCSO Tip Line.”
