Evacuations ordered as Sugarloaf fire more than quadruples in size

The Lower Sugarloaf Fire, in the Glacier Peaks Wilderness has more than quadrupled in size in the past 24 hours.


A check from the air overnight on the fire, burning west of Entiat, north of Leavenworth, shows it has consumed an estimated 4,004 acres.


Chelan County Emergency Management has issued a ‘go now’ evacuation order for Mad River Road within Ardenvoir. A ‘get ready’ evacuation advisory for the Upper Chumstick Highway, Merry Canyon, Moon Canyon, Second Creek, Dry Creek, and along Little Chumstick.

Lower Sugarloaf fire is not in the Glacier Peak Wilderness Area. Also, it's lightning, not lightening. Hope this helps.
