Douglas County Sheriff Kevin Morris signed out of service for the last time on Thursday.
"EO-1, Douglas County Sheriff, for the last time, out of service," is the radio call Morris made to RiverCom dispatch.
"EO-1, Sheriff Kevin Morris," the dispatcher responded. "On behalf of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, RiverCom dispatch and the citizens of Douglas County, we thank you for your 31 years of service."
Sheriff Morris served the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office for 26 or his 31 year law enforcement career. He was promoted through the ranks from deputy, sergeant, and Undersheriff, until his appointment as Sheriff in 2018. Voters elected him to two terms leading up to his retirement.
On Dec. 8, 2025 Sheriff Morris wrote, "After 30 plus years I am excited to announce I am retiring effective March 1, 2026. It has been an honor and privilege serving the people of Douglas County. I am truly blessed to have had the opportunity to work with the finest professionals this career can offer."
Undersheriff Tyler Caille has been appointed to succeed Morris.
