Washington State House of Representatives capital budget lead Rep. Mike Steele, Sen. Keith Goehner, and Rep. Brian Burnett announced the inclusion of more than $32.8 million in 12th District projects in the 2026 supplemental capital budget. The capital spending plan received unanimous approval from lawmakers in the House and Senate today.
The announcement highlights the lawmakers' collective commitment to securing funding that directly benefits the communities in the district and the surrounding region. The funds support a variety of essential projects to enhance infrastructure, strengthen community services, and promote economic development throughout the region.
Steele, R-Chelan, and the lead Republican on the House Capital Budget negotiating team, said the bipartisan plan delivers meaningful investments across the entire district.
"The capital budget is one of the best examples of how the Legislature can work together to deliver real results for our communities," said Steele. "This plan includes investments across the 12th District-from supporting the Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank and affordable housing in Chelan to improving public safety at Echo Glen and upgrading critical infrastructure at the Monroe Correctional Complex. I appreciate the strong bipartisan support for this budget and especially the teamwork among our 12th District delegation to make sure projects that matter to our communities were included."
Goehner, R-Dryden, said the distribution of funding mirrors the equitable approach taken by the Senate and House capital-budget teams.
"The capital budget receives strong support year in and year out because it's truly a budget for all of Washington - and the coordinated efforts of our delegation have also made this a budget for all of our district," said Goehner. "I'm very pleased to see the wins for the west side include the Sultan Main Street lighting project and the improvements to the Manson Grange are on the list for the east side - they were in the Senate version of the capital budget, at my request, and deserved to carry through into the final. The Snoqualmie food bank also came up several times during our recent town hall, so it's good to see that in here as well. These are resources our district needs to grow and thrive."
Burnett, R-Wenatchee, emphasized the impact the projects will have on local communities.
"Securing more than $32 million for projects across the 12th District is a major win for the people we serve," said Burnett. "These investments will help improve public facilities, support local services, and create opportunities that benefit our communities for years to come. I'm grateful for the collaboration between the House and Senate and proud of the work our 12th District team did to advocate for these priorities."
12th District capital budget projects include:
Monitor Park Farmworker Housing: $1 million
Lake Chelan Senior Center structure improvements: $548,000
Old Swim Hole revitalization project: $393,000
Chelan River Heights, affordable housing project: $258,000
