The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) continues to refine customer services at the Chelan Post Office, 144 E. Johnson Ave. with particular customer service and product options not available through a mobile retail unit.
"Right now we're developing the retail services," said USPS spokesman Zachary Laux. "People currently can pick up their P.O. Box mail and left-notice mail at that mobile retail unit. For the time being we're asking customers to either visit the Manson, Brewster or Chelan Falls Post Office locations" for stamp purchases and package drop off.
Laux also shared an update Monday on necessary structural repairs to the main post office building.
On March 27, Laux reported, "A new roof is being placed on the building and a construction related issue has caused the building to become unsafe."
"Currently we're working with the landlord to evaluate the building and see what repairs need to be done," Laux said. "We really want to work with the landlord and move back into that location."
"We really appreciate the community's patience and understanding as we work through this," Laux added. "People can continue to pick up mail at that mobile retail unit. We even have extended hours on Saturday to accommodate our P.O. Box customers, and we're going to get those retail services implemented."
