Hot spots still remain on the Chelan Hills Fire, reported Tuesday morning to be 20% contained and still smoldering in the McNeil Canyon. Aerial infrared shows the fire has blackened an estimated 9,756 acres.
Fire Incident Management says the focus of firefighters is on protecting private properties and structures. Fire crews spent Monday reinforcing a dirt barrier around portions of the fire.
Douglas County Sheriff's deputies ask citizens to stay out of the fire area and avoid travelling on roads being used by firefighters.
