WINE & JAZZ FESTIVAL GETS PORT MONEY

The Lake Chelan Wine & Jazz Festival made a presentation to the Chelan Douglas Regional Port Authority Commission Tuesday, and at the end, they came away with some of the Port's money. Festival Executive Director Kevin Brown told the commission of the economic impact of the festival, and the impact on tourism as well. He finished with a look at funding, and what it goes for:



Then came a discussion amongst the commissioners; all were supportive of the festival, but there was concern about whether it fit the port's criteria for funding. Commissioner J.C. Baldwin:



The festival had asked for 20-thousand dollars from the Port; Commissioner Richard DeRock made a motion:



That discussion will happen another day. But the Port approved 10-thousand dollars to the Wine and Jazz Festival, which is set for May 16th through the 19th.
