Okanogan wildland fire consumes homes

A new destructive wildland fire, this one in Okanogan County, north of Highway 20, near the intersection with Highway 97.
First reported at mid-afternoon, Thursday, the fire grew to over 2,400 acres as of Friday morning. While a full assessment will be made later, officials report homes and outbuildings have been destroyed.
With evacuation advisories issued late yesterday, level 3 get out now, west of Conconnully highway in place as of Thursday night, firefighters reported Friday that the fire’s north growth has been slowed with several active hot spots being targeted.
Douglas County has a new fire, burning in mostly sagebrush, estimated at 100 acres, east of Bridgeport, south of the Columbia River.
