
UPDATE: The Washington State Patrol Monday night updated information on the fatal charter bus-car crash on State Route 28 on Sunday.
The names of the two East Wenatchee teens that were killed when their car struck the bus head-on a few miles east of their hometown, will not be released publicly due to their age.
66-year old Michael Mecham of Spokane was the bus driver that died in the collision. Identification is pending on the bus rider that was also killed.
Injured in the crash, were bus passengers, 71-year old Maria Santos of Quincy, 60-year old Carolyn Ferguson, 39-year old Clyde Ring and 26-year old Kaci Glihsmann, all of Spokane, 24-year old Marco Gamez of Seattle and 59-year old Shannon McBride of Grandville, Idaho.
ORIGINAL STORY: Four people are dead and seven were injured after a car collided with a charter bus on State Highway 28, east of East Wenatchee at 1:28 p.m. Sunday.
State Trooper Anthony Hildebrand says the wreck happened near the Rock Island Dam when a 17-year old female driver of the car, from East Wenatchee, attempted to pass an SUV, travelling westbound, and struck the eastbound bus head-on.
The State Patrol reports Monday morning that the driver of the sedan, a 17-year old male passenger in the car, and the 66-year old bus driver from Spokane, died at the scene. A passenger on the bus died upon arrival at Confluence Health Hospital.
Troopers have not released the names of those killed in the crash.
In a separate accident, an East Wenatchee man died in a semi-truck crash on SR 28 Saturday afternoon.
State Patrol troopers say that 61-year old Christopher Fife suffered a medical emergency, lost control of his vehicle and struck a bridge on the eastbound shoulder. He died from injuries on the way to Central Washington Hospital.
