The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office has increased efforts to combat online child exploitation.
Sheriff Mike Morrison says to build upon the collaborative investigation that led to the arrests of a dozen men in Chelan and Douglas counties on a “Net Nanny’ bust July 26, the Sheriff’s Office has entered into an Interagency Agreement with the Washington State Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
"It gives us the opportunity to have access to more resources," said Sheriff Morrison. "We've tried to stay very creative, looking at partnering with other agencies, to come up with tools to address these problems."
The task force assists local law enforcement agencies by offering support in digital forensics, investigative techniques, and specialized training to address complex child abuse and exploitation cases.
In February 2024, the Sheriff’s Investigative Unit launched a pioneering initiative to combat child abuse, including the most recent “Net Nanny” operation, which led to multiple arrests.
