Two SUVs collide head-on on  highway 97-A near Entiat Tuesday afternoon, killing the passenger of one of the vehicles.

The Washington State Patrol says that shortly after 1:30 p.m., the vehicle driven by Sharon Wilson, 77, of Cashmere drifts over the centerline and strikes the oncoming northbound vehicle. Wilson and the driver of the other SUV, Stephen Harrison, 68, of Sammamish were injured as taken to Central Washington Hospital. Sylvia Harrison, 70, was pronounced dead at the scene. All three were buckled in at the time of the accident.

The identities of the three climbers killed in a fall on a mountainside off highway 20 near Mazama this past weekend have been confirmed by the Okanogan County coroner.

They are Tim Nguyen, 63, and Vishnu Irigreddy, 48, both of Renton and Oleksander Martynenko, 36, of Bellevue.

A cold overnight Monday for a man who lost his bearing while skiing in the Enchantments. Chelan county Sheriff’s deputies and search and rescue personnel from the air and on the ground came in to assist.

"He was overdue and not prepared to be overnight," said Chelan County Sheriff's Sgt. Rob Huddleston. "He came in from the Snow Lake side and was going to descend Aasgard Pass on skies. He decided to cut the trail short and ended up getting extremely lost. From the helicopter we located a set of shoe prints in the snow. We got the ground crews in on it and were able to locate him."

Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison says it’s the volunteers of both Chelan Mountain Rescue and Chelan Volunteer Search and Rescue that are vital assets to the response by Sheriff’s deputies. The Sheriff says the county is 2,900 square miles in size with 87% of the geography inaccessible by road…

In addition to helicopter assets, the Sheriff pointed out that deputies now have new snowmobiles, quads, side-by-side vehicles, drones, paddle boards and kayaks for swift water rescue and the ability to use infrared Flir cameras, which came at no cost to the county.
