It was a great night for football in Brewster tonight for the Manson Trojans who came out on top 36-0. The 1st quarter saw a lot of rushing by the running backs for Manson. Cristian Lopez and Spencer Ward both capped off very controlled drives with TD rushes of 4 and 6 yards. In the 2nd quarter Lopez scored on a 1 yard rush and the 2-point conversion was scored by Joe Strecker. The half was capped off on a 30 yard passing TD from Bo Charlton to Mason Walters as time ran out. The 2-point conversion was scored by Spencer Ward. The offense ended the first half with 196 yards rushing and 121 yard in the air. We also controlled first half defensively, only allowing Brewster 23 total yards of offense. The defense was led by Mason Cameron who dominated the front line and Spencer Ward who provided a late 1st quarter interception.
The 2nd half was much the same. We controlled the ball up front and played solid defense. Christian Lopez scored the lone TD in the 2nd half with about 6 minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter. Joe Strecker scored the 2-point conversion. The defense was amazing in the second half with a “bend but don’t break” mentality. Cristian Lopez, Mason Cameron, Bailey Cameron, and Parker Shoenwald all made very strong plays up front to slow down the running game of Brewster. Eduardo Escalera also chipped in with an early 4th quarter interception and Marcos Pena provided a couple TD saving tackles that pretty much sealed the victory.
We have to give a lot of credit to a Brewster team and coaching staff who started the game with 12 players and played as strong in the 4th quarter as they did in the 1st quarter. We have seen this team do this all year and commend them for their toughness in finishing the season as strong as they did.
The support from our fans was amazing as always and very much appreciated. This was the final game of our regular season in which we finished with a league record of 5-3 and took 4th place in the northern division by winning 5 of our last 6 games. Our next game will be played in Pasco vs. Tri Cities Prep next Friday, November 4th, at 7:00 PM.
