WILSON NOT SOLD ON HAWKINS' SCHOOL CALENDAR IDEA

Lake Chelan School Superintendent Brad Wilson isn't entirely sold on 12th District State Senator Brad Hawkins' idea to add five more days to the 180-day school calendar. Hawkins has introduced a bill in the state senate to increase the school calendar to 185 days, Hawkins has said he'd like to increase the calendar to 200 days. Wilson's thoughts:





Also, another State Senator's idea is to send money to school districts to fund tutors to help students catch up from their learning loss; Wilson says that idea appeals to him more, but he says whatever the legislature decides has to be funded by the state:





Speaking of calendars, the School Board approved calendars for the next two school years at their meeting last week; Wilson says there were no changes, the year will begin the Tuesday before Labor Day with a three day week, followed by a four day week, and then a full five day week after that.
