A quick multi-agency response on a windy afternoon likely saved the day near Wells Dam, a wildfire along Highway 97 that was reported around 1:30 yesterday (Tue) afternoon was kept to between 7 and 8 acres. Crews from Chelan Fire and Rescue, Manson and Orondo responded to the fire, which was burning on both sides of the highway. The fire closed the highway for the rest of the afternoon, although the fire was reported in mop-up phase by 4:30. No reports of any injuries, but no official word on what caused the fire, the investigation continues.
