After facing multiple delays, a jury trial has finally been scheduled for Michael Berggren, a 41-year-old Wenatchee business owner charged with child rape and molestation.
Court records reveal that the trial date has been set for June 20.
Berggren, who had been held in custody, was released after posting an $85,000 bond. He faces a total of nine charges in both Chelan and Douglas counties, including five counts of child rape and four counts of child molestation. Berggren has pleaded not guilty to all charges in both counties.
On March 25, 2022, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the Columbia River Drug Task Force took Berggren into custody. Initially, he was held on a combined bail amount of $1.1 million until the bond was posted.
The victim, a family member who was underage at the time of the alleged crimes, was interviewed by investigators the day before Berggren's arrest. Court records indicate that the alleged sexual offenses occurred between 2011 and 2020 when the victim was between the ages of 5 and 12, taking place at Berggren's home and other locations.
Berggren is the owner of Berggren's Backyard Oasis Pool and Spa Services in Wenatchee.
