The Lake Chelan School District is still working on a facilities plan, with a main question of where to put a new school. Apple Blossom Center has been looked at as a possible site, but that may now be in question. At last Tuesday's City Council meeting, Councilman John Olson and City Administrator Wade Farris squared off on the district's plans. Olson mentioned what he heard at a recent School Board meeting regarding Apple Blossom Center and the Tax Increment Financing plan that includes ABC:
We asked Lake Chelan Superintendent Brad Wilson whether TIF is a factor in the district's facilities plan, he said not really, although the lack of water at ABC is a factor:
Wilson said first on the district's plate right now is getting ready for the EP&O levy in February, and while a facilities plan is important, it's a secondary consideration right now.
