SHORT-TERM RENTAL APPLICATIONS OPEN JUNE 1ST

Chelan County is set to accept new applications for certain short-term rental operations beginning June 1, but current short-term license holders are being urged to keep an eye on critical renewal dates. Commissioner Shon Smith reminds current permit holders that their renewals are from September 1 to October 31, even though their license expires on December 31.

The county has three tier classifications for short-term rentals, but Tiers 2 and 3 have already exceeded established limits and will not be open to new applicants. However, new applications for Tier 1 properties, including those with a maximum occupancy of eight people and the owner is present during rental periods, will still be considered. Smith highlights the Leavenworth and Lake Wenatchee areas as having limited space for new short-term rental applications, with Tier 2 and Tier 3 qualifiers already exceeding the maximum cap.

Tier 2 short-term rentals have a maximum occupancy of 12 people and are not owner-occupied, while Tier 3's maximum occupancy is 16, with either non-owner or owner-occupied classifications.
