At the recent Manson Community Council meeting, code enforcement for short terms rentals came up as a topic, and whether hours for code enforcement officers could be expanded. Sheriff Mike Morrison said negotiations have been going on with the City of Chelan about adding a code enforcement officer to work Wednesday through Saturday, but he didn't sound too optimistic about that happening:

Morrison did say that there have been improvements in holding short term rental owners accountable for their properties:

Morrison said the house with 23-thousand dollars in fines is in the west end of the county, and was fined for not cleaning debris around their residence. He says they've tried working with the owners through educating them, but he said they didn't listen, so now the county is getting tougher.
