REMODELING DOWNTOWN MANSON FIRE STATION

There's a remodeling job happening at the fire station in downtown Manson. The Manson Fire Department, known officially as Chelan County Fire District 5, rents space from the Reclamation District for its downtown station, and they're changing things around to rid themselves of a problem with vehicle exhaust. Manson Fire Chief Arnold Baker:

Another benefit of remodeling the downtown fire station is the need for a new fire truck. The district needs to buy a new engine every fifteen years as part of keeping its rating for insurance rates.

And Baker says the remodeling of the station will allow for buying a better truck:

On another note, Baker says call volume last month was much higher for EMS calls, which he says are at a record. Fire calls were mostly complaints from people who Baker said didn't understand the burning regulations.
