PUD WARNING: STAY OUT OF THE CHELAN GORGE

Time for the annual reminder from the Chelan County PUD to stay out of the Chelan Gorge. Spring spill season is coming up, here's the PUD's Senior License Compliance Specialist Jeff Osborn:





Osborne says the PUD takes into consideration things like precipitation and how fast the lake is refilling to determine when spills happen, but he says the main factor in deciding when to spill is the weather:





Osborne says there are around 97 warning signs along the gorge to remind you to stay out, but some, apparently, don't know how to read. He recalls one such incident:




But if you'd like to watch a spill, Osborne says there is a place you can do that:





Osborne adds there is really no way to alert people about when a spill will happen, he advises people to check out the Lake Chelan Lake Levels page at chelanpud.org.
