A note for travelers using State Route 20 this weekend: it will be open, but you're going to have to follow pilot cars through the fire areas. State Department of Transportation Spokesperson Lauren Loebsack:
The fire she's referring to is the Sourdough Fire, which at last word was more than 62 hundred acres in size, and 30 percent contained. Yes, it's a holiday weekend, and it could slow down your travel a bit:
But things can change once you get out on the road, so be sure to look out for the DOT's electronic messages:
One other fire that's burning nearby is the Blue Lake Fire, southeast of the Sourdough Fire; at last word, it was at 1,056 acres, and was also at 30 percent containment. The Airplane Lake Fire, in the Glacier Peak Wilderness, was at roughly 25-hundred acres.
