There's a new childcare and learning center in Pateros. It's called the Pateros Treehouse Early Education Center. A non-profit center, it opened its doors in August. Gene Dowers is Assistant Director of the Treehouse:
Dowers' wife is Carlene Anders, former mayor of Pateros. The Treehouse is licensed for 72 kids, Dowers says they've got about a third of that right now, so there's plenty of room:
Dowers says there are different rooms for different age groups; there's a room for infants, another for toddlers up to two and a half years old, a pre school room and a school room:
Dowers says the center was his wife's idea, and he adds there's a real need for it in the area:
The center is open from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm. You can find out more at paterostreehouse-dot-com.
