ONE DEAD IN PLANE CRASH

One person is dead after a plane crash Sunday morning in the rugged hill country southeast of Twisp.

The Okanogan County Sheriff's Office says they were notified of the crash around 10:30 Sunday morning, Okanogan County Search and Rescue responded to the Twisp Municipal Airport and contacted a pilot who knew the location of the crash site. Search and Rescue, Aeromethow, Local fire and US Forest Service Law Enforcement responded approximately one mile up Finley Canyon. A Search and Rescue team member then proceeded on foot up the adjacent ridge to evaluate the crash. At the same time Search and Rescue requested Life Flight to the location. The Search and Rescue Team member and Life Flight arrived at about the same time at the crash site. It was determined that the single occupant of the crash was deceased. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA. The Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office extends thanks to Jackson Konrad of Twisp for guiding the teams to the wreckage for the recovery.

The identity of the person who died has not been released, we are awaiting additional information, the sheriff's office says there may be more later in the week.
