ONE DEAD AFTER SHOOTING NEAR PANGBORN AIRPORT

We have more information as the Douglas County Sheriff's Office continues investigating a fatal shooting that occurred near Pangborn Airport early Monday morning.

The incident occurred when deputies were flagged down by the driver of a vehicle on Grant Road around 1:18 a.m. Deputies discovered a passenger inside the vehicle with a gunshot wound to the torso. The victim was identified as Elias A. Mora-Ontiveros, a 23-year-old resident of Rock Island. He was treated at the scene and transported to Central Washington Hospital, where he later died.

According to Douglas County Undersheriff Tyler Caille, the gunshot was a result of a verbal argument that took place in the 10 block of South Union Avenue in East Wenatchee.

The shooting is being investigated as a homicide, and detectives are still actively working to contact witnesses and process the crime scene. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear, and investigators are not ruling out any possibilities.

The Washington State Patrol Crime Scene Response Team is assisting with the investigation, and detectives believe that this is an isolated incident, with no threat to the public.
