An accident occurred north of Blewett Pass on Monday when a 19-year-old Wenatchee man caused a chain of wrecks involving four vehicles, including his own.
According to authorities, Dominic Henley fell asleep at the wheel while traveling south on US 97 around 12:00 p.m. As a result, his vehicle veered into oncoming traffic, setting off a series of collisions. Henley's vehicle made contact with an SUV driven by 71-year-old William Deters from Wenatchee, resulting in a side-swipe. Henley's vehicle then collided with another car driven by 33-year-old Dustin Sayre, also from Wenatchee. The impact caused Deters' SUV to spin into the opposite lane, where it was struck by 51-year-old Michael Nordin of Raymond.
All individuals involved in the collision sustained injuries, except for Deters, who escaped unharmed. Henley, Sayre, Nordin, and Nordin's three passengers suffered varying degrees of injuries.
Drugs and alcohol were ruled out as contributing factors to the accident. The injuries sustained by those involved did not appear to be severe enough to require airlifting for medical attention.
