LIBRARY THROWING UNUSABLE BOOKS AWAY

The friends of the Chelan Library are asking a favor of you: don't donate bad quality books to them, they'll just have to throw them away. Elizabeth Welch has been calling our 2nd Cup of Coffee program for years promoting the library's bookstore and asking for donations, but Wednesday she called up to rant:

Three garbage cans of unusable books, in fact; and that brought her to this plea:

I visited the library, and the bookstore right inside the entrance is nicely organized, and the books for sale there look to be in very good shape, so if you have books you're through with, and they're in good shape, go ahead and please donate them. If they aren't, find some way to recycle them.

A note that the Friends of the Library is holding their annual Columbus Day weekend sale Saturday October 7th from 9 am to 4 pm.

And one reminder: there is no substitute for a good library.
