Tom Beckwith of Bekwith Consulting was back before the Chelan City Council Tuesday night with the latest results of the survey the Historic Downtown Chelan Association has put up regarding downtown revitalization. They seem to show that people like things pretty much the way they are when it comes to sidewalk widths and parking spaces. Earlier this month, the city and HDCA had demonstration parking spaces and markings of proposed sidewalk widths at the corner of Woodin Avenue and Emerson. There were three different parking space widths – nine, nine and a half, and ten feet; and sidewalk widths of 12, 14 and 16 feet. The results?
In the presentation to the Council, Beckwith put their thoughts on sidewalk widths:
Beckwith was looking for responses from people living in Chelan and using Downtown Chelan, he said that's where the great majority of responses came from. The survey is still open until the end of the month at historicchelan-dot-org.
