The Chelan Planning Commission held a public hearing on an amendment to the Chelan City Code regarding the reuse of public buildings. It seems to have been prompted by the pending sale of the old hospital, the Hospital District requested a change in the Municipal Zoning Code. Chelan Community Development Director John Ajax:
Which includes such things as restaurants, bars, tasting rooms, professional office space, small scale retail and the like. But the amendment also includes not just the old hospital property, but a district called “Downtown Public.”
We mentioned the old licensing facility next to City Hall as a building that could benefit from the code change; Ajax called it a good example since the city owns that space:
Ajax says one of the reasons for the code change is looking towards the future of the MOE Elementary property:
