HAWKINS ON LEGISLATIVE SESSION

Now that it's over, 12th District State Senator Brad Hawkins is summing up the legislative session just finished as not too bad . . .



Not that Hawkins was totally happy with what did or didn't come out of the legislature; he voted against the almost 70 billion dollar operations budget, saying it didn't spend enough on addressing learning loss and getting students to grade level; he said he expects the three firearms bills that the Governor signed yesterday to wind up in court – and one already has; Hawkins says one of the session's lowlights was the failure to pass a drug possession bill:





But the senator had positive things to say about his house counterparts, saying the district came out ahead this session:





Hawkins is still in Olympia finishing up a few things, but says he's looking forward to coming back home and spending some extended time with his family.
