When it comes to the Governor's proposed budget, 12th District State Representative Keith Goehner has concerns. Goehner sits on the House Transportation Committee, and says it seems that in the 2023 transportation budget, Governor Inslee is reneging on some of the things that were promised in 2022:
One of the projects that could see long delays would be Spokane's North-South freeway project, which was conceived in 1946, and broke ground in 2001. It was scheduled for completion by 2029 at the latest, but if the Governor's plan becomes reality, money from the corridor project would go towards other priorities on the west side of the state like traffic safety and ferry systems, and it wouldn't be finished until at least 2033.
