FIRST EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR COMMUNITY CENTER NAMED

The Lake Chelan Community Center has its first executive director. The board of directors of the Seven Acres Foundation has named Maribel Cruz to the position. Cruz has been the center's director of operations for the past year and a half. Seven Acres Foundation President Ty Witt says Cruz has played an essential role in the center's development, and quoting here, “The first-hand knowledge Maribel gained while wearing many hats on critical committees has prepared her well for all that's ahead of us."

Cruz worked for a Seattle-based corporate events planning company, then as a civil servant for the City of Seattle before moving with her family to Manson two years ago. Cruz sees the center as a family gathering place:

According to the center's website, the center is in phase one of development, with construction about 74 percent complete. The center was scheduled to open this fall; no further information about an opening date is known.
