FINAL SAUL GALLEGOS MEMORIAL RUN SET FOR JUNE 24

It's been almost twenty years since Chelan County Sheriff's Deputy Saul Gallegos was shot and killed while attempting an arrest, that happened June 26, 2003. He had been with the sheriff's office only seven months; prior, he had been a City of Chelan police officer before that department was decommissioned. He was 35 and left behind his wife Maria and four sons. To celebrate his memory and raise educational funds for his kids, the Saul Gallegos Memorial Run was created. Now, twenty years later, the organizers say that has largely been accomplished, and so this year's run will be the last. It's set for Saturday June 24th at Singleton Park in Manson. Chelan County Sheriff's Sergeant Rob Huddleston:

To sign up and get your runner number, or just make a donation, you can go to saulmemorialrun.com. Coordinators say the community is likely to continue to honor Gallegos' memory in future years, perhaps with an annual public picnic or other commemoration. Again, saulmemorialrun.com, and early registration ends on Monday.
