FILING WEEK: MAYORS RACE SHAPING UP

We're in the middle of filing week for elected offices. And what's looking to be the hottest race in the county is the race for mayor of Chelan. With the week about half-over, four people have already filed to run for that position. And they are all people you know.


First, Mayor Bob Goedde is running for re-election. It would be his fourth term as mayor, having first served from 2008 to 2015, then elected again in 2019.


Running against Goedde are City Council Members Erin McArdle and John Olson. A former executive director of the Lake Chelan Wine Alliance and the Historic Downtown Chelan Association, McArdle has served on the city council since 2010. Olson is a retired real estate broker who serves as vice chairman of the Chelan Senior Center board of directors, he was elected to the city council in 2019.


Also running for mayor is Chelan Attorney Stan Morse, who has a solo practice , and was a city councilman serving from 2008 to 2012.


As of yesterday, One person had filed for a city council position; Brad Chitty will be running for Council Position number 5. That's the position currently held by Mark Ericks.


In other filings, Mary Signorelli has filed for Hospital Commission position number one; Doug Gibson for position number five.


In the Chelan County Fire District 7 commission races, former fire chief Mark Donnell has filed for Commission Position one.


For the Manson Fire Commission position one, it will be Chris Willoughby versus Dana Starkweather.


Susan Young and Scott Dietrich have filed for Chelan Falls Water District commission positions one and three, respectively.

Mark Babcock has filed for Commission Position number 3 on the Lake Chelan Sewer District board.

Kim Thorpe has filed for an at-large position on the Lake Chelan School Board.

Aurora Flores will run for a position on the Manson School Board.

Rene Courtney and John Wilsey have filed for positions on the Stehekin School Board.

David Sneesby has filed for Position number two on the Manson Parks and Recreation board.


There are positions open on the Chelan County Port District board; JC Baldwin is running for position 2, current commissioner Richard DeRock is running for the unexpired term of position three.


Filing week ends Friday.
