Chelan City Administrator Wade Farris says he is – and isn't – surprised at the reaction from citizens and junior taxing districts over the Tax Increment Financing proposal the city council is considering. In a conversation with KOZI News Friday, Farris said the reaction depended on which side you were looking at the proposal from:
Farris said they had done a lot of research over the past couple of weeks with their consultant on the project, Bob Stowe of Stowe Development and Strategies, and realized they had given the taxing districts misinformation. Now, they're going to try to straighten things out with correct information at a council workshop Thursday afternoon at 2 pm:
The public is allowed to attend the workshop but cannot comment. But the public can comment at the regular council meeting on Tuesday May 23, and at the special meeting to designate a tax increment area on Wednesday afternoon May 24th.
