DOUGLAS COUNTY SHOOTING VICTIM IDENTIFIED

Douglas County Sheriff's Office says a 23-year-old man from Rock Island, Elias A. Mora-Ontiveros, has been identified as the victim of the fatal gunfire incident on South Union Avenue near East Wenatchee.

Mora-Ontiveros died at Central Washington Hospital shortly after the shooting, which occurred just outside the city limits. He was transported by a private vehicle to the 200 block of Grant Road in East Wenatchee, where he was found by a passing Douglas County deputy who called for emergency aid personnel. Mora-Ontiveros sustained a gunshot wound to his torso.

The police believe that the shooting was a result of a verbal argument and do not think there is a further threat to the public.

The authorities are investigating the incident and are searching for three persons of interest in relation to the shooting. The victim was contacted by the police in the 200 block of Grant Road, and a region-wide notice for three possible armed and dangerous suspects was issued by local police around 6 a.m. Monday.
