Veterans Day was Saturday. It's a good time to remind people that there are veterans service programs set up in Chelan and Douglas Counties to help vets and their families who need support. Douglas County Commissioner Marc Straub says they used to team up with Chelan County's Veterans program, but opened their own office in 2019, staffed by Sarah Silverman:
And Straub says there is all kinds of help available to veterans, including financial help if needed:
Silverman has a mobile office, and can travel to Waterville, Bridgeport, within Douglas County by appointment with a veteran or a family member seeking assistance. The best way to reach Silverman is through the county's website, douglascountywa-dot-net.
In Chelan County, Trent Morrison is the Veterans Service Officer, working with Chelan County veterans and their families. Information on his program is available at co-dot-chelan-dot-wa-dot-us.
