The Douglas County Commission has approved an ordinance making it easier for property owners to subdivide their land. Commissioner Marc Straub says they've been working through an extensive public process on that. For years, Douglas County provided for 20-acre segregation minimums, meaning property owners couldn't have less than a 20-acre parcel without going through a lengthy subdivision process. So last week, Commissioners amended the county code bringing the 20-acre minimum down to five acres. Straub explains how it works:
Straub says one of his main campaign issues back in 2018 was to look for reducing what he called senseless regulations, and making sure that private property rights were upheld.
