Call this a reverse campaign announcement: don't vote for Mary Signorelli for hospital commissioner. Her name is on next month's ballot, but she's not a candidate. Signorelli withdrew her candidacy in June, but it came too late to take her name off the ballot for the August primary election, which she won with 42 percent of the vote. And since she won, state law requires her name be placed on the November ballot. On KOZI's “2nd Cup of Coffee” with David Marz Monday, Signorelli explained she tried to get her name off the ballot after the primary election:
Signorelli, who had been a hospital commissioner for ten years, resigned from the board in June. The reason was not given then, but Signorelli explained yesterday why she had to quit:
And with Signorelli's resignation from the board, she also withdrew her candidacy, but the deadline for getting her name off the ballot was May 22nd. So her name appeared on the primary ballot. And it will also be on the general election ballot, but like she said, don't vote for Mary Signorelli. Vote instead for one of the the two candidates remaining in the race, either Len England or Debra Edinger. Election day is November 7th.
