The Chelan City Council approved a procedure manual for the council at its meeting Tuesday evening. The manual spells out how meetings are to be conducted, and what council members duties are. Earlier this week, we reported that the council had discussed the manual at its workshop last week, and the question of whether it was proper for council members to attend meetings such as a planning commission meeting was brought up. The issue centered on evidence brought up in committee meetings that a council member could hear attending that meeting, that would not be included in a report to the council when an issue came up for a council vote.
Prior to the council's vote on the manual Tuesday, At-Large Planning Commissioner Gaylen Willet referred to our story, and pointed out that council members serve as liaisons with different committees:
That was in response to a comment at last Tuesday's workshop by Mayor Bob Goedde about a council members attendance at a committee meeting:
Also at Tuesday's Council meeting, the council approved an agreement regarding stormwater infrastructure for the park's maintenance building, and also received an update from City Administrator Wade Farris on the Tax Increment Financing proposal, which was no more than a rundown of what had happened in regard to TIF up to Tuesday. There was no discussion on the matter. A special council meeting to designate a tax increment area in East Chelan has been set for Wednesday May 24th.
