COMMUNITY ACTION COUNCIL FUNDRAISING FOR NEW FOOD DISTRIBUTION CENTER

The Chelan Douglas Community Action Council is raising money for a new headquarters and food distribution center. Executive Director Alan Walker says the current facility is 25 years old, and has outlived its usefulness:

They'll be moving to the C&O Nursery location in North Wenatchee, which will triple the size of their food distribution facility:

The Community Action Council supports 20 different food pantries, meal sites and senior housing facilities in the two-county area, serving around 9-thousand people per year. Final cost of the project is around six million dollars, they have more than five million in funding already lined up:

Now they're looking to the public for the final 660-thousand. Walker says this type of campaign is new for them:

Walker says he's hoping to have the money raised by the end of June; in the first week of the campaign, 30-thousand dollars was raised. To find out more, or to donate, you can go to cdcac-dot-org, or call 509-662-6156.
